Ilana Paterman Brasil (Petrópolis, 1982) is a visual artist and designer. She graduated in Design from Esdi/Uerj, where she also completed a PhD on drawing, technologies and decoloniality in 2022. She obtained a diploma in audiovisual art in 2012 from the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, Germany, through a DAAD scholarship. Her artistic work focuses on watercolor and charcoal animations, in which she investigates, through artisanal making, the relationships between the body, the feminine and popular cultures. Recent activities include: exhibition "Bloco do Prazer" , Museu de Arte do Rio, 2024; MC Mulheres festival, Vitória, 2023; solo exhibition "Água de Cor" (Water of Color), Sesc Teresópolis, 2023; award for best experimental video dance, Híbrido Fest, São Paulo, 2022; and Animage - International Animation Festival, Pernambuco, 2022. Solo exhibition How to Dance Funk, Sesc Alpina, 2022; selected in the Visual Arts category by the Rumos Itaú Cultural 2020 program.
